The internet addiction epidemic has changed. The internet biznis jeen-yuhses with access to capital say “there’s all these problems cutting into our checks, so let’s reinforce them, but with only us cool, awesome people.” Then their Jeen-yuhs With a Capital-J-Only party turns into them all playing board games and going home at 11 PM wondering where all the action went, with a few upchucks… and then all the miserable couples argue themselves into poor quality sleep.

Unless you’re sexualizing exclusivity like Raya did (or early FB, in the OG obnoxious campus dork version), no one will pay to watch you play Settlers of Caaatttaaan or listen to you rant about how mentally ill Republicans are or whatever the eff you do just to try to feel alive. Just wait until the online dating reactionary trend picks up steam: all these internet-educated rejects are going to have to learn to negotiate the world without a mediating internet dorklord company. Sure, your business plan can be to try to build monopolistic dependency at a loss and then start trying to charge exorbitantly (Uber et al.), but that means you entered the world of vice, and you are a dork.

Addiction epidemics can pay well until the resulting collapse of the addicted market. Sorry pushers of grotesque, passive-aggressive dorkdom drugs, your product family of process and lifestyle addictions is total, expired ass. Due to your dorkiness, you were ignorant to the fact that you were just opening the door for the vice brigade, like you always do with your fake thugging. What you do next is start screaming about Prohibition-style reactionary suicidal authoritarianism and totally eff yourself (and often the rest of us) into the ground, because you understand very little about what you’re actually doing. ❤️‍🔥

Postscript: On Dorkiness

People tend to get nerdiness, geekiness, and dorkiness confused. I think only dorkiness is truly concerning when it becomes dominant, because it’s ALWAYS sexually inept and awkward. Those traits destroy the ability to discern between attraction, persuasion, and coercion. There is real violence residing in the dorky…

And it is not gendered in my view. Male and female dorks have been blood-feuding on the internet for a decade now, and it is gross 🤢
